WASHINGTON: The person accused of staking out Donald Trump’s Florida golf course with a rifle was indicted on Tuesday on a cost of tried assassination of a politician, federal prosecutors stated.
Ryan Routh, 58, was already dealing with two gun-related expenses after authorities stated he pointed a rifle by way of a fence at Trump’s golf membership in West Palm Seashore, Florida on Sep 15 whereas the Republican presidential candidate was {golfing} there.
He has been ordered to stay in jail to await trial.
“The Justice Division is not going to tolerate violence that strikes on the coronary heart of our democracy, and we’ll discover and maintain accountable those that perpetrate it. This should cease,” Legal professional Basic Merrick Garland stated in a press release.
The Division of Justice stated a federal grand jury in Miami returned the indictment late Tuesday afternoon.
The tried assassination cost carries a most sentence of life in jail.
The case has been assigned to US District Choose Aileen Cannon, who dismissed a felony case in July accusing Trump of illegally maintaining categorized paperwork after leaving workplace.
Routh has not but entered a plea. His attorneys unsuccessfully sought to have him launched on bond.
