To the editor: My spouse and I’ve stayed at a number of resorts in Palm Springs that had been family-friendly (“Adults-only hotels are all over California. Are they even legal?” March 18). We went there to de-stress and calm down. The larger downside is dad and mom not controlling or supervising their kids. On a couple of event, we needed to go away the pool space on account of out-of-control kids. We have now been sprayed with Tremendous Soaker water weapons and drenched when kids insist on leaping into the pool, cannon ball-style.
All of the whereas, the dad and mom do nothing, even after being requested by lodge administration to regulate their kids. At one high-end resort in Palm Desert, we witnessed a cocktail waitress knocked to the bottom and dropping a complete tray of drinks by two out-of-control kids working wild by means of the pool space; the dad and mom did nothing.
It’s not that the lodge doesn’t like kids, it’s a parenting downside. The one recourse the lodge has is to limit kids to make sure a high quality atmosphere.
