Kyiv has deployed 1000’s of troops to the shock operation, a Ukrainian safety official advised AFP, seizing the battlefield initiative after months of gradual Russian advances throughout the east.
“We’re on the offensive. The goal is to stretch the positions of the enemy, to inflict most losses and to destabilise the scenario in Russia as they’re unable to guard their very own border,” the safety official stated on situation of anonymity.
The shock assault, now in its sixth day, appeared to catch the Kremlin off guard, with Moscow’s military dashing in reserve troops, tanks, aviation, artillery and drones in a bid to quash it.
However the military on Sunday appeared to concede that Ukraine had been in a position to penetrate its territory by as much as 30km in locations.
