To the editor: Our nation was constructed by immigrants who got here right here searching for a greater life. These immigrants labored laborious to assimilate by studying English and flying the American flag. (“Hundreds of L.A. students join immigration protests; buildings vandalized, rocks thrown, LAPD says,” Feb. 4)
What struck me in regards to the protests held in downtown Los Angeles and different cities is that lots of the contributors had been carrying the flag of Mexico and holding indicators written in Spanish.
The protests would have been way more efficient had the individuals demonstrated their loyalty to the USA.

To the editor: I can’t for the lifetime of me perceive why many demonstrators in downtown Los Angeles had been waving Mexican flags as an alternative of American flags when they need immigrants to have the ability to keep in the USA.
They wish to be in the USA, but the allegiance on show was to Mexico. What an incongruity.
My message to the demonstrators: Wave the American flag solely.
