To the editor: Paris’ Notre Dame Cathedral, restored and extra lovely than ever, is a testomony to what may be achieved within the face of adversity once we come collectively to appreciate a shared objective. (“An archbishop’s knock restores Notre Dame to life as winds howl and dignitaries look on,” Dec. 7)
A number of occasions humanity has mobilized to perform exceptional issues — for instance, this restoration after the hearth of 2019, the defeat of Adolf Hitler, placing a person on the moon and tackling international ailments.
As we speak we face the necessity for an unprecedented restoration: that of the Earth’s well being and controlling the local weather disaster, a hearth now burning the cathedral of our planet. Let the magnificent success of Notre Dame’s revival encourage us to quell the flames of this disaster and restore our world to ever extra health and beauty.
Certainly this can be a second that warrants a response equal to the assets, urgency and loving care that went into Notre Dame’s resurrection.

To the editor: I used to be each gratified and thrilled to learn concerning the reopening of Paris’ beloved Notre Dame Cathedral — till I noticed that President-elect Donald Trump accepted French President Emanuel Macron’s invitation to the ceremony.
What? Trump is already being handled because the U.S. president, whereas we nonetheless have a sitting one?
