To the editor: As we study of a whole lot of younger males hauled off in shackles — with zero due course of — to a brutal El Salvadorian jail, it’s clear that cruelty just isn’t a byproduct, however quite the purpose for this administration (“They were called gang members and deported. Families say their only crime was having tattoos,” March 23). We’ve proof some weren’t affiliated with gangs. Not a touch of remorse for these whose solely offense was escaping tyranny and torture in Venezuela and who now discover themselves in a dwelling hell.
Immigration falls below the umbrella of the Division of Homeland Safety headed by Kristi Noem. She seems to have auditioned for the function with the discharge of her e-book final 12 months containing a tough-gal brag about taking pictures her canine and goat. Their offenses? Annoying her. In any regular world, this admission would have been a nonstarter for a place of energy. Not in Trump’s America. Is it any marvel that is the place we’re as a rustic — when cruelty is sport and celebrated by the powers that be?

To the editor: The Alien Enemies Act, which is Trump’s excuse for deporting individuals to El Salvador, solely applies in wartime. The facility to declare conflict, like the ability of the purse, is expressly below the authority of the legislative department. We aren’t at conflict simply because Trump says we’re.

To the editor: President Trump can’t be allowed to spherical up any group of individuals in our nation and carry out all the “due course of” inside the govt department. He can’t go on to pay El Salvador to use jail time whereas avoiding an American courtroom of legislation, presumably as a result of it’s extra handy. That’s unconstitutional.
