It would now take 9 GOP lawmakers to drive the vote to oust a sitting speaker.
“Now that he’s elected, Johnson faces a troublesome legislating problem with the narrowest Home majority in practically 100 years,” CNN reported.
“Nonetheless, in a key victory for Johnson, the Home made it more durable to oust a speaker. Included as a part of the sweeping bundle was a procedural change that can require a minimal of 9 GOP lawmakers to drive a vote to oust a speaker. Beforehand, it solely required one member to drive a vote,” CNN reported.
