TEHRAN: Iran’s United Nations mission stated Saturday (Oct 19) that Lebanon’s Hezbollah group, armed and financed by Tehran, was behind a drone attack on the residence of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“This motion was taken by the Lebanese Hezbollah,” the mission stated in response to a query about Iran’s function within the assault, in response to the official IRNA information company.
Earlier Saturday, Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of trying to kill him after his workplace stated a drone from Lebanon had hit the premier’s household residence.
The Tehran-backed militant group, which fights Israel in Lebanon’s south, has not but acknowledged the assault.
“The try by Iran’s proxy Hezbollah to assassinate me and my spouse at the moment was a grave mistake,” Netanyahu stated in a press release.
Addressing “Iran and its proxies”, Netanyahu vowed that “anybody who tries to hurt Israel’s residents can pay a heavy value”.
