The arrest of Badar Khan Suri, a postdoctoral fellow at Georgetown College within the US capital, comes as fears mount within the scientific world that freedom of analysis is being challenged two months into US President Donald Trump’s new time period.
On Wednesday (Mar 20), the French authorities condemned the expulsion of a French area scientist meant to attend a convention in Houston, after officers searched his smartphone and located what they known as “hateful” messages in opposition to US coverage.
“Dr Khan Suri is an Indian nationwide who was duly granted a visa to enter america to proceed his doctoral analysis on peacebuilding in Iraq and Afghanistan,” Georgetown College stated in an announcement.
