To the editor: I used to be a employees author at The Instances for 16 years. By way of many ups and downs on the newspaper, I’ve remained a loyal and devoted reader. I used to be gutted to study that proprietor Dr. Patrick Quickly-Shiong ordered The Instances’ editorial board to withhold an endorsement within the presidential race.
The truth that one of many candidates lives right here and has lengthy represented this state meant that withholding an endorsement could be seen as a stunning boon for former President Trump’s marketing campaign. The proprietor needed to have recognized that — and, after all, that’s precisely what has occurred, as Trump was fast to label the choice a “humiliating blow” to Vice President Kamala Harris.
I gained’t cancel my subscription solely as a result of I really like journalism and my native paper, and since I’ll by no means cease supporting the outstanding journalists at The Instances.
However this was a reckless, silly determination. The proprietor is now making information, placing his thumb on the size of this election and harming the state that depends on this establishment and its integrity.

To the editor: Kudos to your paper for not endorsing both candidate. Newspapers and different media retailers are presupposed to be unbiased and report info and let the readers and viewers make their very own knowledgeable choices.
All of those subscription cancellations and mood tantrums are pathetic and hilarious on the similar time. Do they actually need you to inform them for whom to vote?
It’s like leaving a social media website that has someway offended you. No have to broadcast it — simply go!

To the editor: Within the fraught political atmosphere our nation is in now, dealing with essentially the most critical risk to democracy and civil rights for the reason that Civil Battle, we want the free press to battle courageously to avoid wasting our democracy and our constitutional rights.
And but, at a time like this, the proprietor of the L.A. Instances has determined to, basically, sit this one out and never make the one sane endorsement doable for president of america.
With Trump threatening to make himself a “dictator on Day 1,” perform mass deportations, use the U.S. navy towards folks with whom he disagrees and on and on, that is no time for a supposedly main newspaper to sit down on the sidelines.
After giving up on subscriptions to different newspapers that I felt had did not dwell as much as this second, I turned to The Instances as a doable different. As a Californian, I discovered it good to have extra protection of state and native information and politics.
However no extra. I’ll be canceling my subscription. I can hardly specific how upset and betrayed I really feel by the U.S. company media. You allow us to down after we wanted you most.

To the editor: It’s tough to consider {that a} selection couldn’t be made for the president, when one candidate has been convicted on 34 felony counts, was discovered civilly chargeable for sexual abuse and has many extra indictments pending.
His immature title calling and disgusting lies versus a lady of stature who holds different people with respect makes the choice a no brainer for me, and I’m shocked that it doesn’t accomplish that for The Instances.

To the editor: I’ve been a subscriber to The Instances for 30 years, and the cowardly determination to not endorse Harris signifies that I cannot make it to 31. I will probably be canceling my subscription except you reverse course.
How are you going to spend nearly 10 years explaining to readers how and why Trump is an existential risk to our democracy, and now refuse to offer a full-throated, enthusiastic endorsement to the candidate who stands as a bulwark towards fascism?
Harris might not be all the things for everybody, however she’s a superb candidate who will truly defend our Structure and work to convey us collectively.
Do the best factor. Endorse Harris or face the ire of your readership.

To the editor: It’s utterly unconscionable that The Instances didn’t endorse Harris for president.
Trump is a convicted felon who orchestrated a coup to overturn a free and truthful election. Harris is a local Californian who has labored tirelessly and honorably for this state and the nation for greater than 30 years, and he or she deserves your endorsement.
You made a shameful determination that’s forcing this longtime subscriber and daughter of a former reporter to maneuver on from The Instances.
