Some six years after reaching the mountaintop with the Boston Purple Sox, one veteran left-hander continues to attempt his luck.
Aram Leighton of Simply Baseball reports this week that pitcher Drew Pomeranz, a former starter-turned-reliever, has signed with the Seattle Mariners. Pomeranz is reportedly getting a minor-league deal from Seattle.
Now 36 years outdated, Pomeranz has 11 years of MLB expertise with six completely different groups. He was an All-Star for the Boston Purple Sox in 2016 after which went on to get a hoop with them in 2018 as a member of their World Sequence-winning roster (although Pomeranz didn’t really pitch within the postseason).
That looks as if historic historical past at this level although as Pomeranz has not pitched within the huge leagues because the 2021 season with the San Diego Padres. Hampered by two separate elbow surgical procedures in 2022 and 2023, Pomeranz spent final season on minor-league offers with the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, and San Francisco Giants.
Although he solely managed to make eight Triple-A appearances for the Dodgers (posting a 6.00 ERA), Pomeranz will now be getting one other comeback alternative with the Mariners, a crew that may soon be very active on the trade market too.
