Re: “WA lawmakers decided to tax the rich. Poll shows voters aren’t so sure” [July 23, Business]:
I’m chagrined after seeing the statistics on the excessive share of each Democrats and Republicans who would vote to repeal our state’s current 7% capital features tax on funding earnings above $262,000, excluding actual property gross sales. The income would go towards training and college building.
Our college students critically lag due to COVID-19 Zoom lessons. The Washington Bankers Affiliation, the Puget Sound chapter of Nationwide Electrical Contractors Affiliation and the Constructing Trade Affiliation of Washington are amongst enterprise teams funding the rollback, along with people together with an uber-elite Republican businessman.
How grasping have we develop into? What do we have to persuade those that are on the fence that this capital tax is important? Can we present these unsure how little they might be paying and what tangibly these funds would accomplish? Are there native outstanding wealthy athletes or celebrities who may publicly rally to keep up this tax?
