The Canadian authorities alleged on Tuesday (Oct 29) that Indian Minister of Dwelling Affairs Amit Shah, an in depth ally of Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was behind the plots to focus on Sikh separatists on Canadian soil.
The Indian authorities has dismissed Canada’s prior accusations as baseless, denying any involvement.
The Washington Put up newspaper first reported that Canadian officers alleged Shah was behind a marketing campaign of violence and intimidation focusing on Sikh separatists in Canada.
Canadian Deputy Overseas Affairs Minister David Morrison mentioned to a parliamentary panel on Tuesday that he informed the US-based newspaper that Shah was behind the plots.
“The journalist referred to as me and requested if it (Shah) was that individual. I confirmed it was that individual,” Morrison informed the committee, with out offering additional particulars or proof. The Excessive Fee of India in Ottawa and the Indian overseas ministry had no fast remark.
