One individual is in custody after an incident involving a suspicious bundle halted site visitors for hours on Interstate 85 in South Carolina.
In response to the South Carolina Division of Transportation (SCDOT), the incident induced a site visitors backup close to Exit 44 at White Horse Street in Greenville.
Officers are asking drivers to keep away from this space. As of 5:25 p.m. Thursday, all lanes have been blocked.
Greenville County dispatch mentioned the incident concerned a tractor-trailer.
Greenville County deputies mentioned SWAT and Bomb staff members have been referred to as to the scene to help South Carolina State Transport Police following a reported site visitors cease simply after 3:30 p.m.
The State Legislation Enforcement Division (SLED) bomb squad and FBI can be aiding with this investigation.
“I-85 close to mile marker 44 is quickly closed out of an abundance of warning resulting from a bomb risk issued throughout a routine site visitors cease this afternoon by SC Transport Police,” Governor McMaster mentioned. “SCDOT and state regulation enforcement are on the scene, and regular I-85 site visitors will resume as soon as the tractor trailer is swept and cleared by SELD’s bomb squad.”
