Attackers focused a jail close to the French port metropolis of Toulon in a single day Monday to Tuesday, burning automobiles and firing pictures at its partitions, French authorities and a union mentioned on Tuesday, including that this was a part of a collection of assaults on the nation’s prisons.
There have been no stories of casualties. A union for jail staff, FO Justice, posted photos on X, previously Twitter, of bullet holes in jail partitions, saying that prisons had been attacked within the north, middle and south of the nation.
The workplace of France’s counterterrorism prosecutor mentioned it will start an investigation into the violence, which it mentioned began on Sunday. The justice minister, Gérald Darmanin, mentioned he would go to the Toulon-La Farlède jail on Tuesday in help of the officers there.
Mr. Darmanin urged that drug traffickers had organized the assaults. The French newspaper Le Monde mentioned the assaults have been coordinated and talked about other incidents in Villepinte and Nanterre, each suburbs of Paris; Valence, a metropolis in southern France; and the southern port metropolis of Marseille.
