To the editor: Los Angeles’ response to the issue of road tenting has been ineffective, not efficient. (“Newsom and San Francisco take a wrong turn on homelessness,” editorial, Aug. 8)
If a river coming down from greater elevation is just not managed, it floods the encircling countryside. The flood will destroy the world the place most individuals reside.
When 75% of the campers on the road have a substance abuse or psychological well being situation, according to a 2019 UCLA study, it’s wishful considering that extra public generosity will clear up the issue. Some significant regulation and order have to be utilized to road tenting, or encampments within the metropolis will proceed to proliferate.

To the editor: I agree along with your editorial on Gov. Gavin Newsom’s misguided encampment orders.
Nevertheless, I’m disillusioned you aren’t utilizing people-first language to explain individuals experiencing homelessness. I hope you’ll achieve this sooner or later.
