A North Carolina girl has been charged with homicide after her child died from a fentanyl overdose.
Riley Tehy Wormington, 23, has been charged with felony second-degree homicide and two counts of felony little one abuse, two counts of felony possession of a Schedule II managed substance, felony sustaining a dwelling for a managed substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
U.S. Marshals arrested Wormington in Colorado on February 18 for the dying of her child a 12 months earlier in North Carolina.
Wormington left North Carolina and had a second child whereas the dying of her little one was nonetheless below investigation.

On February 13, 2024, Mooresville Police Officers responded to 407 Ridge Avenue in Mooresville in reference to a medical name involving a baby below two years of age. Regardless of lifesaving efforts, the kid didn’t survive. Mooresville Police Division Detectives started an investigation into the kid’s dying. Throughout the investigation, it was decided that the dying was the results of fentanyl toxicity after the kid ingested a deadly dose of the drug.
“A Could 2023 research discovered that pediatric deaths from fentanyl elevated ‘greater than 30-fold’ between 2013 and 2021. It reported that fentanyl was implicated in 38 % of deadly pediatric opioid poisonings, 5,194 of the 13,861, between 1999 and 2021,” Newsweek reports.
Wormington will likely be transported again to Iredell County, North Carolina, to face the fees.
