STOCKHOLM: Sweden doesn’t rule out sending troops to Ukraine as a part of any postwar peacekeeping power, public broadcaster Swedish Radio reported on Monday (Feb 17), citing feedback by the nation’s overseas minister.
The minister’s feedback got here after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer mentioned he was able to send British troops to Ukraine for peacekeeping duties as he tried to point out the US that European nations should have a role in talks on ending the war.
“We should now first negotiate a simply and sustainable peace that respects worldwide legislation, that respects Ukraine and that at first ensures Russia cannot simply pull again, construct new power and assault Ukraine or one other nation in only a few years’ time,” International Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard mentioned in an interview.
“As soon as we’ve got such a peace established we have to guarantee it may be maintained after which our authorities does not exclude something,” she added.
On Monday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrived in Saudi Arabia forward of anticipated talks with Russian officers aimed toward ending Moscow’s almost three-year conflict in Ukraine.
